The Silent Grid of Despair

It happened while you were watching TV,
They were wiring the Earth for us, not to see.
A cable here a cable there, smart meters everywhere,
LED lighting all exciting, just helps to carry tears.

They came in slippers so soft, not a sound in the night,
Electric trucks silent as fog so as not to give us a fright.
Look in the morning black cylinder adorn every streetlight.
O, faster Netflix they declare. But under the hum we need to fight.

Face recognition for your safety, pick out the criminals make it tasty
Gate recognition still works even when masks are compulsory
They have to plot for the next plan-demic, Vaccines not compulsory, yet,
Chance to get the venerable sheep first, then we turn to the suffragette

Ask yourself this, why was it done in silence in the dead of night?
5G is old hat now, stack the grid high, total surveillance all bright.
Why should we care? Why don’t we stare, send out waves of despair,
Why don’t we stop it, kick up a fuss, basically we don’t care.
