The Dyslexic Misfits
They sat us at the back,
To hide us from the fact
We were slipping through the crack
Between the cage and the track.
Indoctrination was beginning to show.
We weren’t stupid, we weren’t slow.
Letters dancing began to flow,
Words of nonsense would not bow.
We saw their system and took it apart,
Sideways spelling that made us smart.
We had our patterns, flows and chart,
Our system which was full of heart.
I now look back and feel sorry for them,
In their cage of sorrow and mayhem.
I now punch forward but don’t condemn -
I found my path, and what a gem.
